Mrs. Faith Williams Dyrsten, Ext 115

Dean of Experiential Education, Administrator

Introduction to Design 9, Drawing 10, Pre AP Drawing 10, Art Independent Study 11-12, AP Studio Art 11-12

Mrs. Dyrsten has been on the DAT Faculty since 2011 working in the Art Department. She has built an amazing Art Program taking students from Introductory Classes to Expert classes at and above the AP level. Her complete love for art, passion for education, and commitment to our school and community make her an invaluable member of our staff. Mrs. Dyrsten holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from University of Denver. She and her husband, Charlie, live in Denver, CO.  


Rabbi Shmuly EngelExt 126

Gemara, Girls Advanced Gemara, Advanced Halacha, Tefilla​

Rabbi Engel is a Denver native and moved back in 2014 after teaching and working in multiple cities across the Eastern Hemisphere. He holds semicha from the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY. Rabbi Engel is excited to be able to bring a passion for Tefilla and a love of learning Gemara to the students at DAT. He, his wife Zeldy, and their two children live in Cherry Creek North where they run Chabad of Cherry Creek.  


Mr. Paul Fiely,  Ext 218

CP English 12, General Studies Independent Studies Coordinator, CP World History 10, AP World History 10, CP European History 11

Mr. Fiely recently joined the DAT team in the Social Studies and English departments. He comes to us with over ten years of teaching and leadership experience in Kentucky and Abu Dhabi. Mr. Fiely’s constructivist approach to education ensures that all students are actively engaged in learning material. He is a United States Army Veteran, holds Bachelor’s degree in History and Social Sciences, as well as a Master of Arts in Secondary Education. Mr. Fiely and his wife, Nikki, who teaches in our lower school, live in Aurora, CO.


Morah Liat GoldExt 219

Director of Israel Engagement and Hebrew Lanaguage

Morah Liat started teaching at DAT in 2015 as a Hebrew Language teacher and has taken on the role of running much of our student programming. She is an enthusiastic teacher who brings a love of Israel and Hebrew Language to each one of her students and to the entire high school community. Morah Liat holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Criminology from Bar Ilan and a an advanced degree in Education with an emphasis on Special Education from the Kibbutz Seminary Graduate School of Education in Tel Aviv. Morah Liat, her husband, and their three children live in Englewood, CO. 


Ms. Michelle Golla,  Ext 214

Geometry, AP Statistics, Business Math and Personal Finance

Ms. Golla is a passionate math educator and a dedicated coach. She has over 20 years math teaching and tutoring experience, in addition to maintaining personal training clients. She focuses on breaking down math concepts into fundamental building blocks allowing for student mastery. Ms. Golla holds double Bachelor’s Degrees in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law and in Education. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and lives in Denver, Colorado.


Mrs. Suzanne Hillier,  Ext 230

Alegbra II and Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, Honors Biology II

Mrs. Hillier is joining the school faculty with over ten years experience in science and math education. Her engaging lessons are fitting for helping students master concepts at all levels, and her passion for teaching comes across in her classroom. Mrs. Hillier holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. She and her family live in Broomfield, Colorado.


Reb Noam Horowitz, Ext 211

Halacha and Tefilla

Reb Noam joined the DAT teaching team in 2009 as a member of our Limudei Kodesh team. His background in youth leadership supports his passion to help build our school community. Reb Noam brings a passion for considering ethical and religious topics, engaging our students in many great discussions, debates, and Torah explorations. He attended Yeshivat Har Etzion, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University Honor’s Program, and has completed a certificate program in education at Azrieli School of Jewish Education. He lives with his wife Yael, and their three daughters on the East Side of Denver, CO. Their two oldest chidlren currently are DAT students. 


Ms. Melissa Krocker, Ext 216

Critical Reading and Writing 9, CP Language and Compostoin 11, GAP, SCOPE​ and Capstone

Melissa Krocker joined the DAT High School faculty in 2016 as English teacher and research specialist for SCOPE. Her travels to Costa Rica, India, Nepal, Wyoming, Ecuador, Portugal, and the Puget Sound inform her love of curiosity and adventure. Ms. Krocker is a passionate experiential educator who shares her innate curiosity with students helping them to think critically and creatively about the world. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies and Health from Grand Valley State University. Ms. Krocker, originally from Michigan, lives in Denver.


Dr. Julie Lieber

Senior Seminar in Jewish History

Dr. Julie Lieber is the Director of Education for Kevah. Dr. Lieber recieved her PhD in Modern European History from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lieber has taught extensively, including as a Professor of Jewish Studies at both the University of Denver and at the University of Colorado. She was also a sought after adult education teacher for Melton courses both here in Denver and in New York as well as at Drisha Institute for Women.  Dr. Lieber brings to our Senior Seminar in Jewish History a breadth of knowledge and a charasmatic style that brings history to life for our students. Dr. Lieber and her husband Eric Shafran live in Denver with their three children, all of whom are DAT students. 


Mrs. Cheryl Makovsky, Ext 213

Literature and Composition 10, AP Language and Compostion 11, Honors English and Literature 12

Cheryl Makovsky joined the DAT team after a successful career teaching English and Literature at Arapahoe High School. She has been teaching at DAT since 2014 and is passionate about the written word and learning from humanities. Mrs. Makovsky’s tremendous love for literature is one she works to ingrain in her students through discussion, written response, presentation, acting, and other modalities. She has a Bachelor’s in English and Master’s in Humanities. As a long time Denver resident, Mrs. Makovsky and her husband Jack live in Southeast Denver.


Mrs. Rebecca Mogyoros Ext 201

Algebra 1

Mrs. Mogyoros previously taught exclusively in our K-8th grade but this year she joined us in the High School. She has an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Technology in Education.  Her combined ten plus years experience give her the solid foundation to guide students towards mastery in a differentiated classroom using multiple styles of learning. Rebecca and her husband, Dr. Danny Mogyoros, live in Denver with their three children, who are all enrolled in DAT.


Mr. Maxwell Rotbart Ext 206
US History 9, AP European History 11

Mr. Rotbart is the first DAT faculty member who is also an alumnus of the school. He joined the faculty in 2009 as a Student Teacher and was hired in 2014 as full time faculty member. This is Mr. Rotbart's first year teaching in the DAT High School. Mr. Rotbart firmly believes in teaching students to be well-educated citizens of the world who care not only about their critical thinking skills, but their character as well. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in History and Secondary Education.  Maxwell lives in Denver, CO.


Rabbi YD (Yehoshua Dovid) Schwartz, Ext 209
Gemara PA 9-10, Gemara 11-12, Halacha 10-11, Tefilla 

Rabbi Schwartz joined the DAT faculty teaching Gemara and Halacha across grades 7-12 in 2017. He brings a love for Torah that infuses all that he does, and a passion for empowering others to understand and integrate Jewish wisdom into their daily lives. Rabbi Schwartz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Literature and Language from UCLA, and a double semicha from Aish HaTorah. Rabbi Schwartz, his wife Chava, and their two children recently moved to Denver from Boston.


Mr. Donald Seese 

Introduction to Physics, CO Chemistry 10, Honors Chemistry 10, CP Biology 11, AP Chemistry

Mr. Donald Seese has over 20 years experience of teaching sciences in the upper grade levels, and has worked in multiple fields. His passion for project and laboratory based science education are evident in his teaching philosophies. He holds a Bachelor’s in Microbiology from CSU and has completed coursework in Secondary Education at Metropolitan State. Mr. Seese and his wife live in Littleton and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. 


Mr. Lawrence Stroll, Ext 210

Director of College Guidance​

Mr. Stroll joined the DAT team in 2016 after teaching in Atlanta.  Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s in Communication and Biology from Yeshiva University, an LL.B. (equivalent to J.D.) specializing in Conflict Resolution and Negotiation from the University of Alberta Law School, and a Master’s in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Alberta. Mr. Stroll switched careers to become a math teacher after a successful legal career and working as a Personal Wealth Manager. Lawrence and his wife, Lisa Stroll, have two grown sons and their younger daughters are enrolled in DAT.


Rabbi Danny Wolfe, Ext 225

Boys Advanced Gemara 11-12, Senior Seminar (Halacha), 

Rabbi Wolfe was born and raised in Denver and moved back in 2015 to work for the The Jewish Experience after spending time living in Connecticut, Israel, and New York. He brings a love for Torah learning and connections to real world to his teaching and is excited to share his wide knowledge base with our students, pushing them to critically think, analyze, and question. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University, and semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University, among other certifications. Rabbi Wolfe, his wife, and their children live on the East Side of Denver.


Mrs. Liora Wittlin, Ext 302

Dean of Student Affairs, 9-12

Tanach, Tefilla, Limudei Kodesh Independent Studies Coordinator

Mrs. Wittlin came to the DAT HS faculty with over a decade of teaching experience, most recently in Memphis, TN. She has designed and implemented Tanach curricula and loves guiding students as they explore the multitude of mefarshim and life lessons to be learned through Torah study. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University Stern College and was a YU Teach Legacy Heritage Fellow. Mrs. Wittlin, her husband Avi, and their four sons moved to Denver in 2016. 


Morah Orit Yehezkel, Ext 231

Hebrew Language

Morah Orit Yehezkel will be working alongside Morah Liat in our Hebrew Language Department. Morah Orit comes to Denver Academy of Torah with over 20 years of language teaching experience both in Israel and in the States. She is committed to guiding all students to language mastery in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Morah Orit holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tel Aviv University. She and her family live in Lone Tree, Colorado.
